Welcome to our new website! We are launching the disAbility Legal Network on 3rd December 2021: The United Nations International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). The annual observance of the IDPD aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

As the disAbility Legal Network aims to increase awareness of persons with disabilities in the life of the Irish legal sector – the Steering Committee thought it was apt to launch our website on IDPD 2021!

The theme for IDPD 2021 is ‘Not All Disabilities are Visible’. In the below video we asked some Irish lawyers with disabilities: (i) to reflect on that theme; (ii) asked how has the pandemic impacted them; (iii) what the establishment of disAbility Legal Network means to them; and (v) to suggest what could help raise awareness of disability in the Irish legal sector.
